The movie version of the middles ages poem Beowulf, limns the hero's battles with two of of the story's primary antagonists: Grendel (Crispin Glover) and Grendel's mother (Angelina Jolie). At the film's outset, Grendel is terrorizing towns throughout the Scandinavian countryside. Beowulf (Ray Winstone) must defeat the evil creature and inevitably his ruthless mother.The screenplay is adapted by Roger Avary (Pulp Fiction) and Neil Gaiman; Robert Zemicks directs. Anthony Hopkins, John Malkovich, and Robert Penn Wright also make appearances.This film is fine escapist entertainment. -forrest green III
