Although, director Sidney Lumet has dozens of films to his credit, his newest feels like a debut. Brothers Andy (Philip Seymour Hoffman) and Hank (Ethan Hawke), plan to rob a Westchester, N.Y., jewelry store. When the simple plan goes awry, the brothers and and their family members, are plunged into a complex mess. The brilliant cast, which includes Marisa Tomei and Albert Finney, coupled with the dramatic score, make this film about as good as it gets. -forrest green III
