Actress, Why Did I Get Married?
From her performance as the mama full of drama in the Tyler Perry film, Daddy's Little Girls, to her new role in his upcoming film, Why Did I Get Married?, Tasha Smith instills life into every character she portrays.
And although all of her on-screen sass has piqued the interest of movie producers and fans alike, once the lights go off and the cameras stop rolling, Smith commands attention from a different audience. "I opened up the Tasha Smith Actors' Workshop and I started teaching because I had such a passion for acting and motivational speaking," Smith explains. "My passion is to go back and empower young people that are struggling with some of the same things that I struggled with because I wish I [would have] had somebody like me to talk to when I was a teen."

Having survived the adverse circumstances of a troubled past, Smith hopes that her story of struggle will motivate others to strive for better. "My mother used to freebase when I was a [kid]. I dealt with dropping out of high school, I got caught up in drugs, stripping and the whole nine," she shares. "I want the kids to know that sometimes our circumstance can make us feel hopeless, but they have to keep dreaming big and know that their dreams are not just a figment of their imagination and know that they are fearfully and wonderfully made by God."
