It's the late 1960s in Australia, and four orphans who are best friends are leaving their orphanage for a holiday by the sea. When a rumor gets out that two of the seaside residents are planning on adopting one of the orphans, the boys' allegiance to one another is tested. The four orphans compete for the chance to gain a real family, and one of them has his first romance with a girl at the resort. Each boy learns something about himself and his place in the world. Actor Daniel Radcliffe falls in with the boys, without the trademark glasses he's worn in all of the Harry Potter films. This is a movie resplendent with the joys and heartaches of true friendship.
