the signal

Magnolia Pictures

For about two hours of chaos and carnage, check out The Signal, directed by David Bruckner, Jacob Gentry and Dan Bush. It's a horror film told from three perspectives, about a mysterious transmission that invades electronic devices, turning everyday people into killers. The film begins with a young couple, Mya (Anessa Ramsey) and Ben (Justin Welborn) as they engage in a romantic tryst. It turns out that Mya is married but not in love with her husband, Lewis (AJ Bowen). Suddenly, the TV emits a noisy signal that is echoed throughout every other media from radio to mobile phones. People start hearing the sound and they "get the crazy," going on killing sprees. All three of the film's parts are excellent and this is modern horror at its gory best. - forrest green III
