Here's a movie for those who like magic and fables. Christina Ricci stars as a young woman who's trapped by a family curse and sets out to find herself. Penelope is actually a modern-day, offbeat fable about a woman who yearns to find love. By breaking the curse, she will lose a physical deformity. The movie cleverly reminds us that our beliefs lock us into a particular reality. It has superb visuals and also stars James McAvoy and Reese Witherspoon. The thematic elements involved make it mature fare, which got the movie a PG rating, but then there's comedic and even farcical elements here, too. It's quite an interesting movie for the kids . and grown-ups. - forrest green III
