Here’s a romantic comedy that is short on originality but highly entertaining anyway. Tom (Patrick Dempsey) has a good career and a very active social life. His platonic best friend, Hannah (Michelle Monaghan) is one of the few women he hasn’t been with sexually. When Hannah takes a trip to Scotland, Tom realizes he’s really in love with her. He swears to himself that he will propose to her when she returns. But when she does return, she has a fiancé, Colin (Kevin McKidd) in tow, and requests that Tom be her “maid” of honor at her wedding. He accepts, so that he can somehow win her heart away from Colin. From that point on, the hilarity ensues.
