baby mama
Universal Pictures
Michael McCullers is responsible for writing comedies such as Undercover Brother and two of the Austin Powers films and has directed an interesting work with this film. Will viewers think of it only as entertainment? The story is simple: Kate (Tina Fey), a single, sucessful businesswoman wants to have a baby but finds out she isn’t fertile. She pays another woman, Angie (Amy Poehler), to be her surrogate. There are great comedic moments used throughout that reflect on some serious feminist issues here: when a doorman tells Kate, “You got you a baby momma,” it reflects centuries of sexist objectification of women in western society. But hey, at least it’s a funny movie.
