Lionsgate Entertainment
Mulberry St. is one of After Dark’s Eight Films to Die For series. This year seems to be a particularly good one for the series with such standouts as Borderland and now, Mulberry St. A sudden epidemic caused by diseased rats attacking and biting people leads to some pretty radical behavioral changes, (sort of a 28 Days with rats). As the infected victims mutate into savage killing creatures, the story centers around the tenants of a rundown apartment building and their struggle to stay alive. Surprisingly enough, the characters in Mulberry St. are strong and fully developed — unusual for a horror flick. Dark, and creepy, Mulberry St. has some truly genuine scares. Slickly produced, this movie is an impressive directorial feat, proving that budget isn’t always an indicator of quality. Mulberry St. is a fun thrill ride for horror fans.—
