Spike TV
This original series features suspenseful footage from the daily work of special agents in Detroit’s DEA division. It’s exciting stuff, although it essentially apes the content of the TV show “Cops.” The latter show doesn’t represent black people in the most favorable light, and this version doesn’t stray too far with its Motown setting. But “DEA” is interesting, and at times captivating viewing. Since the agency’s creation by executive order of President Nixon in 1973, 75 DEA employees have been killed in the line of duty. Watch this show and witness the danger, the camaraderie and the work of the organization firsthand. –forrest green III
