street kings
Universal Pictures
Veteran LAPD detective Tom Ludlow often circumnavigates protocol and the law in order to sweep social trash off the streets — and out of his own department. Reeling from his wife’s death, Ludlow (Keanu Reeves) is a heavy-drinking, emotionally combustible street executioner who frequently discharges his firearm and temper with equal aplomb and ferocity. He has to be lassoed in by Captain Wander (a role performed with delicious wickedness by Academy Award-winner Forest Whitaker). When Ludlow’s partner-turned-snitch Terrance Washington (Terry Crews) is murdered, Internal Affairs pegs Ludlow as the prime suspect. He reluctantly has to partner with a stuffed-shirt cop to find the real killers, thus setting up pulse-pumping climatic scenes that include Cedric the Entertainer, Common and The Game.
