leatherheads
Universal Pictures
In this film set in the raucous 1920s, Dodge Connolly (George Clooney) is a football hero who sees his games as anarchic events that deteriorate into fights, and wants improvements. When the team loses its sponsor, Dodge convinces his agent CC Frazier (Jonathan Pryce) to get his college football star Carter “The Bullet” Rutherford (John Krasinski) to join the ranks. On top of all this, Leatherheads is a romantic comedy with Renee Zellweger playing sportswriter Lexie Littleton, who cannot choose between Connolly and Rutherford. Director Clooney turns in another quality job for his third effort — which was clearly a challenge.
