the memory keeper’s daughter
Lifetime
Two sets of lives are irreversibly impacted by a moment in 1964. In the midst of a severe winter storm, Dr. David Henry (Dermot Mulroney) must deliver his own babies. While his wife Norah (Gretchen Mol) is heavily sedated, Dr. Henry brings a son, Paul, and a daughter, Phoebe, into the world. Phoebe is a victim of Down Syndrome. Dr. Henry chooses to not cause his wife the distress of caring for a special needs child and has the nurse, Caroline (Emily Watson) place Phoebe in an institution. Dr. Henry tells his wife that Phoebe died at birth. Caroline instead raises Phoebe as her own, and these events have drastically different ramifications for the Henrys and the presumed mother and child. –forrest green III
