never back down
Summit Entertainment
Here’s a movie about a form of mixed-martial-arts (MMA) fighting, with a simple story surrounding it to for additional substance. Jake Tyler (Sean Faris) has recently moved with his family to Orlando, Fla., where he experiences isolation. One night, Jake accepts an invitation to a party where he is challenged to a fight. He’s trounced by a bully and utterly humiliated. A classmate asks Jake to meet with his mentor Jean Roqua (Djimon Hounsou) and tells him about MMA. Jake is enthralled with MMA and sees his future in the sport/street fighting form as much more. The film’s depiction of the martial arts style is extremely accurate and the fight choreography is well-executed.
