Right on the heels of Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins Martin Lawrence returns in a dazzlingly simple film. Here’s the premise: a book-smart high school student (Raven-Symoné) decides to take a cross-country trip so she can find the perfect college. She also hopes to escape her overprotective father (Lawrence), who is the town’s chief of police. But a glitch occurs in her plans when daddy demands to be her escort. The cast includes ‘80s cultural icon Donny Osmond and gangster film fixture Vincent Pastore. As one might guess, Lawrence and Raven have good chemistry together, making this a respectable, if commonplace bit of entertainment. –forrest green III
