chaos

Lionsgate Entertainment

Chaos is a movie that will probably fool most people. Looking at the cast — Transporter’s Jason Statham and Blade’s Wesley Snipes — most folks will be expecting a martial arts, action packed kick fest. Instead, the film gives viewers a suspense-filled, cops and robbers bank heist story, à la Spike Lee’s Inside Man. Lorenz (Snipes) is a bank robber who takes over a bank and demands that a certain disgraced cop, Quentin Connors (Statham), be immediately reinstated. Once on the scene, Connors begins to match wits with Lorenz and it soon becomes apparent that things aren’t exactly as they seem. Hidden agendas along with some pretty decent plot twists, move Chaos along at a refreshing clip. It’s a surprisingly good movie that works well as a “thinking man’s” thriller. It’s also fun to watch Statham and Snipes flex their acting skills rather than their muscles for a change. –dark abyss
