Founder, Carol’s Daughter

Carol’s Daughter was founded in 1993 by Lisa Price as a hobby. Some hobby. Once an activity confined to her kitchen countertop, Price has transformed Carol’s Daughter into an international brand that has become synonymous with health and beauty. The product, while strong enough to stand alone, has certainly been buoyed by several important partnerships, including cosmetics powerhouse Sephora.

“In 2005, my business partner and myself decided that [in] order to take Carol’s Daughter to the next level, we needed to begin to market it in [other] stores,” Price explains. “Sephora has a really good reputation within the beauty industry, and if your product is sold in Sephora, then you are a beauty brand. We felt like we needed that type of validity being added to the line.”

The move wasn’t just a strategic one, Price has a long-standing affinity with the Sephora brand. “I love Sephora stores,” she stated. “I love to come and play, and just have a good time with the products. It’s a perfect synergy for us.”

While perfection is sought in all aspects of the daily operations for Carol’s Daughter, according to Price, it all starts with a great product. “It’s very important for us to have very high quality ingredients in the products,” Price says. “Occasionally, you have to use certain things like preservatives, but it is possible to use things that are still safe. We keep the percentage of naturals really high so that the product remains good for you.” - dewayne rogers
