Managing Partner, BMB Productions
Vincent Martin of BMB Productions believes that even in the midst of depressed economic conditions, people still want to get out and have a good time.
“From the ruins, the phoenix will always rise,” he says. “Detroit right now is in a ruin, but Detroit is still going to be back. The fight is still on.”
Contrary to popular belief, it takes more than a notion and a DJ to put on a great event; it also takes promotions. BMB Productions has the art of promoting down to a science.
“I’ve been in this promotional business since the early ‘70s,” Martin asserts. “I used to do high school organizations, [and] it was a whole bunch of groups and organizations that allowed me to expose fellowship and getting together with people, so we could actually sit down and market, network and do some positive things in the city.”
As the producer of many of Detroit’s premier “grown and sexy” after-work affairs, BMB Productions focuses on bringing class and style back to the party circuit. “This is what we want to bring back to the city of Detroit,” he asserts, “but we’ve gotten away from that with all the blue jeans [and] we need to stop that trend.”
With a track record that certifies Martin as one of the most influential promoters in the city, he attributes his success to maintaining the golden rule. “Relations with people, that’s the most important thing,” he says. “Be each other’s brother’s keeper [and] treat somebody how you want to be treated.” –janaya black
