terry travis - bringing cultural groups together

Creator and Managing Partner, Cleveland365.com

As much as any legislator, educator or activist, Terry Travis is inextricably intertwined in the cultural fabric of Cleveland, Lake Erie’s most prominent city. Contrary to erroneous beliefs, this pulsating city percolates with a diverse array of activities, major events and urban sophisticates who make it happen. Travis, as creator and managing partner of Cleveland365.com, has deftly used his multimedia portal as a connective tissue between the underserved, but dynamic urban demographic of 25–45-year-olds.

“A lot of times you have people in Cleveland who are doing things that people have no idea of all that they’re involved in,” Travis says. “But typically what we do is profile someone who is heavily involved, not just in their careers, but in the civic life as well.”

Travis and Cleveland365.com facilitate Professionals in the City, where they bring in major community leaders and stakeholders. There is the professional developer’s series, a wine tasting education series, and an upcoming MLK unity luncheon. In conjunction with ABC Morning News’ “Business Mondays,” Travis helps to select a ‘Professional of the Week.’ “They are making a huge impact on the region. But a lot of times, if you are not of a certain age, people don’t really recognize the energy that you put into the thing. We’re doing that,” Travis says.

Next, Cleveland365.com is going national and even international. Travis says the company is opening up operations in Toronto, the Canadian equivalent of New York. “That’s our mission as well — bringing together different cultural groups because organically, the groups just get together without a whole lot of prodding. There’s a huge opportunity for us there,” he adds. –terry shropshire
