Director of Human Resources, Hotel St. Regis

At the heart of every corporation are key individuals who keep the organization running like a well-oiled machine. In the case of the Hotel St. Regis, Dawn Trapp, director of human resources, is one of its master engineers.

“[My duties entail] everything [from] hiring, firing, [and] doing the interviewing, [to] setting up benefit plans [and] 401Ks,” she states. “You name it, I do it.”

“Just starting [from] the ground up [is] something new and exciting,” asserts the 18-year HR veteran. “This is my first time being in hospitality [and] I am having a blast. Customer service is actually my number one priority, [along with] making sure my internal and external customers are well taken care of.”

Trapp is looking forward to the journey ahead. “It’s getting better every day. We’re starting to get a lot more people coming to the hotel and they are in awe of how gorgeous the place looks from years ago when they used to come,” she cites. “[The St. Regis] is a historic landmark in the city of Detroit, [so] we’ve actually brought back some of the previous employees … of the hotel, and I think we’ve restored the beauty and aura of the hotel.” – janaya black
