Franchiser Owner, Massage Envy at Camp Creek

Massages are more vital than one might think. While many may believe the purpose of a massage is purely for pleasure, they are actually a therapeutic treatment. Lynda A. Brooks, owner of Massage Envy, traded being a nine-to-fiver to pursue her dream of owning her own business.

“While [some] tend to believe that it’s pampering, what we try to do is educate the public, [and] let them know ... it should be considered as important as a health club. There are medical benefits to massage, it allows you to be more flexible and relaxed, it reduces stress [and] it helps reduce high blood pressure which comes from stress,” says Brooks. “All of our massage treatments are therapeutic. We offer a Swedish [massage], which is typically for relaxation; a deep tissue [massage], which gets in deeper underneath the more intense muscles and releases pressure; and reflexology that focuses on the trigger points in your hands and feet to release any tension. We [also] offer prenatal and sports massages which include stretching.”

The ability to see the difference in clients’ physical and mental condition when leaving her spa has been especially rewarding for Brooks. “The benefit of having my own business is being able to see how what we are doing here is impacting the community that we are in.” - adrienne gadling
