Evianne Cusseaux is truly an asset to Ebony House Inc., the only African American AIDS education and outreach organization in Phoenix. Evianne is transgendered and knows all about the lifestyle of transgender and MSM (men having sex with men).
“There are a lot of transgender people and men having sex with men in Phoenix who aren’t being reached,” she explains. Cusseaux believes it to be “important for a transgender person to be on the team because we can easily reach the MSM community and a lot of people can identify themselves with us.”
In light of the commonalities between the gay and MSM community, Cusseaux cautions that everyone needs to use a condom. “I really encourage that because HIV is killing us, all of us,” she says. –delgie jones II
