Actor, “Noah’s Arc”

If his face looks familiar, don’t be surprised; Doug Spearman has played the role of Chance on “Noah’s Arc,” a popular cable television series about seven openly gay black males in Los Angeles. AIDS is certainly an issue on the show and in Spearman’s life.

“I was tested the first time in the late ‘80s and I was very nervous. There is always that fear about ‘what if.’ Since then, I have been tested every year. It’s that type of commitment to oneself that can make a difference. I have lost so many friends to HIV/AIDS; I lost two of them this week. We have to take care of ourselves. There will be no future without black people,” says Spearman. - delgie jones II
