Mr. D-Mars is working to build a better Houston. Being an entrepreneur is one thing, but D-Mars is also passionate about empowering others to become better business owners.

“I believe my calling is [to be] a community leader for economic development,” says D-Mars, who used his experience working in marketing and sales at Brown and Ferris to start his own marketing consulting company, d-mars.com. Since then, the man formerly known as Keith Davis has been helping small businesses around Houston and beyond.

“Our company is a full-fledged image marketing company; we start [by helping] businesses [establish] their identity and we help them through our networking events,” he explains, adding that he’s also become a consultant to a very special young businessman; his son, K. Jer’Rod.

“My foundation is for teens and young adults who are aspiring entrepreneurs,” explains K. Jer’Rod, who is also jr. vice president of d-mars.com. “I want to give them the vision to be successful entrepreneurs at a young age. Watching my dad and wanting to be like him, I developed the same mind-set [he has].”

The dynamic father and son duo are constantly working to keep small and mid-size businesses growing. “Seeing African American people come together and work together, that’s what makes me feel good,” says D-Mars. “And it’s [great] to see African American men inspiring other African American men.” For the Davis family, that inspiration starts at home. -todd williams
