lena beal - the weight cure

Clinical Dietician and Consultant, GlaxoSmithKline

Lena Beal was an athletic and active girl. She danced and played softball; that is, when she wasn’t swimming or playing flag football. The busy Beal regarded an active lifestyle as vitally necessary as breathing, and she carried her health-concious regimen into adulthood.

“Lucky for me [that] lifestyle went right along with my profession. It was a natural marriage,” explains the clinical dietician and consultant for GlaxoSmithKline. Today she’s using her fitness interests to help battle obesity by publicly promoting the only FDA approved weight loss pill, Alli.

“I always say that doctors can medicate patients all they want and do all the surgeries they want, but if you’re not putting the proper nourishment into your body, you’re not going to see good results over the long term,” says Beal. “[The program] Discover Alli is about the long term.”

A lasting commitment to weight loss is challenging, to say the least, however, the load can be lightened through the implementation of Alli’s healthy living guide.

“You can’t really control how much you’re being served when you’re in a restaurant. Part of what Discover Alli does is show you what a mega portion looks like and tell[s] you why that’s unhealthy,” explains Beal. “Then, they show you what a healthy portion looks like. I help bring that information to life.”

The health expert strongly encourages people to correct unhealthy eating habits immediately. “We’re carrying that message of healthy living into the community,” says Beal. “We have to do something about obesity. That’s something that’s been rehashed and commercialized [too long].” - adam jones
