With the 2008 presidential election less than a year away, Congressman Bobby Rush of the 1st Congressional District of Illinois is eager to remind people that change for the masses begins first with a single individual. As a member of the Congressional Black Caucus, Rush’s efforts are directed at preserving the political clout of black voters through legislation and public policy. He encourages voters to realize their purpose and power as it relates to improving African American communities across the nation.

“We have to liberate ourselves using not only our political and economic power but also the power of the holy spirit. We have to liberate ourselves, no government is going to deliver us,” adds Rush. - jason thompson
