Vice President of Programs, Atlanta Black Public Relations Society

When the Atlanta chapter of the Black Public Relations Society (BPRS) recently appointed Tyre Sperling to the post of vice president of programs, a strong statement was sent to the remaining members of the organization. From that point forward, the visibility of the organization and their focus on increased membership was going to be moved to the top of their priority list. Sperling, a member of BPRS since 2002, has had a long-standing love affair with African Americans in the PR arena. By accepting the position, Sperling positioned himself perfectly to be able to spread his infectious passion for the industry with the rest of his colleagues.

“I’m definitely excited about this opportunity,” Sperling explains while flashing a confident smile. “There are so many talented African Americans within this profession, so the opportunity to be a major part of bringing more of us together in a positive way was something that I had to jump at.”

In this new role, Sperling will be responsible for driving the overall programming of the Atlanta-based nonprofit organization, as well as identifying and recruiting panelists for monthly membership programs. A graduate of Florida A&M University’s School of Journalism and Graphic Communication, Sperling has seen firsthand the positive impact of BPRS not only on his career, but the careers of his colleagues as well. “The Black Public Relations Society has definitely played an important role in my growth as a professional,” he reveals. “You can’t understate the power of being surrounded by such a talented group of your peers. I wouldn’t be where I am today without it.” - dewayne rogers
