SVP and Director, Strategic Markets, CitiMortgage
Adequately preparing for homeownership is of paramount importance in today’s economy, and Terri Fowlkes, the senior vice president and director of strategic markets for CitiMortgage is leading a team committed to educating the public. “We’d like for [people] to be more informed and if they’re looking to purchase a home, we’d like to give them the knowledge they need,” explains Fowlkes. “If they’re facing foreclosure, we want to help them to know what to do.”
Citi’s Communities of Faith Homeownership Revival Tour is looking to create smarter, stronger homebuyers who can sustain homeownership.
“One of the biggest mistakes people [make] is not getting educated,” Fowlkes says. “Everyone wants a home, but they don’t understand what it takes to be a homeowner. We don’t just want people in homes — we want to sustain homeownership.”
The Tour is an exciting way to keep people informed, and with partners like Freddie Mac and legendary gospel Shirley Caesar showing support, Citi has found an effective way to spread the message.
Terri Fowlkes says she couldn’t be happier with the entire project. “We have a phenomenal team working together and making a difference,” she says. “It gives me great personal value knowing that I’m helping to educate people.” And if the tour helps keep someone in their home, then Citi has accomplished its goal. “It also makes me feel really good knowing that I can help people stay in their homes once they get them — that’s why I do the job that I do.” –todd williams
