Small Business Banking VP, Washington Mutual Bank
As a small business banking vice president at Washington Mutual, Jeffrey Boney plays a vital role in helping business owners get on the right track toward success. His expertise in banking has allowed him to become a staple in Houston's business community. Along with his duties at Washington Mutual, Boney is looking forward to being chairperson of the 13th Annual African American Business Achievement Pinnacle Awards.
"In the past, the Pinnacle Awards presentation and ceremony has highlighted some of the most influential business leaders in our community," Boney says. "This year, individuals who attend will be sponsoring a movement that will shift the paradigm of black owned businesses in Houston and around the world."
Boney adds that this year the gala will feature two new awards--the Advocate Award and the Upstart Business Award.
"With the Advocate Award, we recognize top organizations who exemplify success by empowering the African American community with the tools to be successful on the next level," he says. "It's important to highlight those who have been around, but we want to also empower young businesses. The Upstart Award will highlight young business owners who are on their way to making a difference."
With Radio One's founder and chairperson, Cathy Hughes, serving as the keynote speaker, Boney believes this will be the most exciting gala thus far.
"This gala will show the power that we all possess," he says. "We want everyone to know that successful black businesses are the key to having a financially strong community."
