President, First Fridays
You get your money's worth at First Fridays. The night always begins with a social hour, where you can come to network. After this, you can groove to a concert, which has featured past performances by the likes of Rhymefest and Eric Roberson. The rest of the night is a party featuring some of the hottest DJ's in the area. For party promoter and President of First Fridays Mark Fuller, it was important that he made a unique event in Chicago's nightlife.
"The whole reason for First Fridays is to bring Chicago professionals together to mix and mingle, to network with each other and talk about job openings. It's a monthly gathering for corporate professionals from the urban community. It's been running for 14 years," says Fuller.
This event brings an array of opportunity. With his success, Fuller's goal is to eventually expand this concept of First Fridays to other cities.
"We're bringing Chicago a whole different flavor and it's not about just a party. We try to put on an event, a show, and a dance party; we try to do it all in the same night. We're doing this Heineken Red Star Soul Lounge right now. We have a series of four events left. We are doing one around my big birthday party. Questlove, from The Roots, is going to spin and Talib Kweli is going to host, it will be at the Buddha Lounge."
Whether a night out for leisure or the need to find a business opportunity, First Fridays caters to every need.
