Founder/Publisher, Upscale Magazine/CEO of Bronner Bros., Inc.

The name Bronner Bros. has become synonymous with dynastic success, epitomized by its perennial placement within the upper reaches of the most successful black-owned businesses in the United States. Their trade shows have developed from modest crowds to having tens of thousands of people in attendance. In their formative years, the Bronner Brothers' attracted iconic speakers such as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Jackie Robinson. On August 18-21, 2007, the biannual hair show and extravaganza will host some 60,000 hair connoisseurs and consumers from around the country and across the globe.

Conceived by his legendary father, Dr. Nathaniel H. Bronner Sr. and uncle Arthur - the original Bronner Brothers - son Bernard Bronner elucidates why the hair show continues to experience exponential growth in popularity and stature. "[We] keep it fun and entertaining and educational," says the founder, publisher and CEO of Upscale magazine. "It is there - at the hair show - that you will see the wildest, most exciting hairdos in the world." And that show will include a comedy show on Saturday, and the highly anticipated fashion show on Sunday, featuring fantastic fashion from the 1940s through the 1990s.

Bernard Bronner's extraordinary business acumen led the media mogul to found Upscale magazine in 1989. "There were only three major [black] magazines at the time, and I just thought there needed to be more," says the multifaceted businessman whose Rainforest Films moviemaking company put out the No. 1 Hollywood smash, Stomp the Yard. "We cater to those who are successful, and those who want to be."

"One of the benefits is that the success of one company [Bronner Bros. International Hair Show] has helped us start new companies," he says. "The hair show helped us start Upscale magazine. And the success of Upscale helped us start and grow Rainforest Films." And the success keeps coming. - terry shropshire

The Atlanta Hair Show will take place at the GWCC, August 18-21. For more information, log onto www.bronnerbros.com, or www.bernardbronner. com, or call (800) 547-SHOW (7469), ext. 297 or 273.
