President, Insights
People called Keshia Walker crazy for leaving her job at Coca-Cola, even her mother. After a very successful career at various prominent companies, Walker decided to start her own business. Now, she is building a marketing dynasty as the president of Insights, a marketing and promotions company.
"I spent nine years in branch management for Coca-Cola, BellSouth and Amoco Oil Company. So I prayed and took a step out on faith and left Coca-Cola in October of 1998, and started [Insights] and it's been going ever since," Walker says. "Insights specializes in special events, foundation management, [and] product launches for corporate and sports promotions."
Although Walker works numerous events in a week, she still finds time to be active in her church and the community, helping children from the former Harris Homes public housing development. The entrepreneur always rises to the challenges of her chosen profession and works hard to provide first-class service to her clients.
"With me being a female, some men try to take me for granted," says Walker. They take for granted that I can't handle the door, and event or money. I'm strong willed; I rarely see this as a challenge. I'm the type to walk up and introduce myself and say, 'hey this is what we do. I'd love to set up some time and meet with you and maybe assist you with your events or projects.' I like to be involved with all our clients, it gives me ownership [in] what's going on."
