G Street Interiors is one of Charlotte, N.C.’s premier names in interior design. Founded by Charlotte native Erica Williams five years ago, the company is the product of Williams’ distinct vision.

“The unique thing about G Street is [we’re] a full-service modern interior design firm,” she states emphatically. “Unlike a lot of other decorators and designers that you find, I have a bachelor’s degree in interior architecture, so I’m focused on space planning — more so than [just] decoration.” For an entrepreneur, getting the word about a unique business can be extremely challenging, but Williams put her focus on building the market. “In a market such as Charlotte — a very traditional market — the challenge comes in selling [contemporary] designs to a traditional market,” she explains. “You [need to] have financing for all of the print media that it takes to promote your business.”

“I know a lot of designers who don’t even go through the trouble of [developing a] business plan,” explains Williams. “It’s important to know where you are and where you want to go.”
