CEO, Cerese D. Inc.
To Cerese Dolman, semi-precious stones are much more than just exquisite inanimate objects. The onyx and crystal quartz and other stones Dolman use to make her captivating necklaces and earrings actually come to life when they rest in her intelligent hands. It's as if each piece has a story to tell, that each stone communicates directly to Dolman's spirit. Make no mistake about it: Dolman, the owner of the jewelry business Cerese D. Incorporated, has a relationship with her stones.
This is why her necklaces exude such exotic and wondrous beauty, because they are polished with her love, linked together by her artistic skills and gift-wrapped in her pleasurable personality. "I say in my marketing pieces that the stones speak to me and when I'm putting something together and I know it's 'shonuff,' I get so excited!" she says as she dissolves in spontaneous laughter. "And I say, 'they ain't ready. They aint' ready for this!' " Oh, but judging from patrons' reactions to her meticulously molded creations, they are ready for this Flint, Mich., native's personally hand-crafted jewelry. The Clark Atlanta grad used her business administration degree to nurture her business acumen and interior design career to create some of the most unique jewelry you may ever see. "Interior design [with a Buckhead firm] showed me how stones can work together, and the chains and the metals. It's classy, but it's fun. People say it is art. I myself have never described it to be art. But I believe it to be true." What's also true is that the beauty in her jewelry is a direct reflection of what's in her soul.
