In an effort to increase Detroit's visibility as it relates to the city's financial momentum and artistic awareness, Ed Miller and his company Cypher Complete Entertainment have started a DVD magazine series titled Cypher Chronicles which is bound to put Motown back on the radar. "A lot of people are leaving Detroit - we need people to come back, support, spend money or just enjoy what we have going on, that's the basic premise of it - to let everybody know what we have going on," says Miller. With the DVD series placing a lot of focus on showcasing new talent as well as entrepreneurs in the city of Detroit, Miller wants the heavy population of people who live in the neighboring towns and cities to become more connected with the culture that the city has to offer.
The Northwood University graduate first began to notice the lack of attention the city was getting when the growing number of unsigned hip-hop artists started to balloon and small businesses began to struggle. "I was doing video for a lot of party promoters and they were doing showcases for hip-hop artists," he says. "There are a lot of hip-hop artists that people don't know about - Detroit artists. A lot of them don't get deals, so what I wanted to do was showcase that talent," explains Miller. Determined to see the economy in Detroit thrive in a consistent and abundant manner, Miller and Cypher Complete Entertainment are community leaders worthy of praise. - jason thompson
