Wedding Planner, Doubletree Hotel, Buckhead
Planning a wedding can be an intricate process that requires a lot of preparation. Who will be the caterer? Which bridal shop will have the perfect wedding dress? Who will make sure bride and groom say, 'I do'? Kevyn Carter, who is a wedding planner and catering manager at the Doubletree Hotel in Buckhead, has it all covered. For nearly four years, Carter's job of helping engaged couples jump the broom in style without stumbling has proven to be an interesting mission.
"I've had one bride pass out on me right before the doors opened. She thought [the music] was off queue and she hit the floor," recalls Carter, the memory of the incident evoking a smile. "We heard a thud and we didn't realize it was her. We got her up, we got her down the aisle and she got married." Fortunately, fainting brides haven't come along too often during her career. So, planning nuptials have routinely consisted of making sure everything is in place in order to create the couple's perfect ceremony.
"We can plan everything for the bride and groom from the beginning to the end. We're kind of like a wedding one-stop shop," Carter shares. Although she enjoys helping people bring their visions of holy matrimony to fruition, encouraging the commitment of marriage is a spiritual calling. "In this industry it's not just a job for me - this is a part of my mission," she shares. "I believe in the institution of marriage and [I believe] it's a covenant." - jamana jamison
