Owner, The IT Architect Corp.
Charles Harrell’s Internet technology firm is the offspring of the marriage of due diligence and discernment. While executing his routine obligations at Merrill Lynch within the venerated Chicago Board of Trade district, the University of Miami law graduate came up with an idea that hit him like a thunderclap. The IT Architect Corporation is the result.
“[Merrill Lynch’s] analysts focused on IT and the convergence of IT with communications. One of the companies at the time was privately owned Research in Motion, which is now BlackBerry,” explains Harrell. “We underwrote that organization and it went public. That gave me the idea of starting my own company in information technology. [IT Architect develops] IT and communications solutions.”
The 5-year-old company is a Microsoft solutions partner that analyzes organizational operations and assists companies in streamlining their processes with Microsoft products. For example, if an organization doesn’t have a server, IT Architect will build one and connect all the workstations.
“[Our services] allow an organization to streamline the way in which they order their mobility or mobile devices,” says Harrell, whose aspiration of building a billion-dollar firm marinates deeply within his soul, “... not just ordering but also managing mobility.”
