Living one’s life in a purposeful way requires effort and planning. You can’t just roll out of bed into a meaningful life. Not usually, anyway. No, for the majority of us, building a good life is a lengthy, arduous process — akin to hauling bricks uphill with the sun searing a runway of scorching heat down your back.
The first step in constructing a meaningful life is shedding any notions of attaining perfection. Humans are imperfect; therefore aspiring to infallibility is an exercise in futility. Nonetheless, we can and should fervently strive to be outstanding in every endeavor we undertake.
Living fearlessly in the moment — not in the shadow of yesterday’s regret or in the expectancy of a hopeful tomorrow — is difficult, but not impossible. Decide today who you will be, and then begin the journey of self-discovery. Perhaps you want to earn an advanced degree; maybe you are interested in pursuing the arts, wherever your goal is, it is incumbent on you to seek the necessary training and mentoring to accomplish it.
Everybody has a purpose. The point is to uncover your purpose, or as the French say, your raison d’être — your reason for being. You may not be cognizant of what your purpose is, but rest assured, there is a reason for your presence in this world at this particular point in time. It is your obligation to fulfill that purpose. There is a contribution to humanity that only you can make. Don’t wait for someone else to grant you a permission slip; you are responsible for your own life. We are so quick to hop on other people’s bandwagons — and we don’t even know where they are headed. Do something different for a change; take the express route to your purposed-filled life. You won’t regret it. Hop on. Peace.
Peace.
