Founder, Texas Women’s Empowerment Foundation

Deavra Daughtry constantly strives to be the best at what she does. After spending seven years as a social worker in Harris County, Daughtry decided to branch out on her own and create Excel-E-Care and Excellent Care Management Inc. After achieving success with her company, which now has a staff numbering more than 500 employees, Daughtry devised a strategy to inspire other women. In 2003, she created the Texas Women’s Empowerment Foundation. The foundation is considered one of the most important women’s organizations in Texas. -amir shaw

What was it like creating the Texas Women’s Empowerment Foundation?
It was very fulfilling. I started it because I had a vision to help women overcome their struggles. There are a lot of women who are looking for ways to become stronger in their businesses and relationships.

How do you reach out to the community?
We have annual workshops and seminars that are free to the public every month. We also recently started a new component for men. They educate each other and host monthly workshops and seminars. We also have family empowerment night where everyone gets together to empower each other.

How has this foundation changed the lives of women?
Women who were a part of this foundation have started their own organizations and businesses. Others have become authors and speakers. We’re calling on leaders from all over the world to get involved.
