If one color could describe Traci Williams’ personality it would be orange, she says. “It’s hot, sunny and bright, just real bright,” says Williams, the brains behind On My Own LLC, (O.M.O.), a residential project management company that helps homeowners liven up their homes with the latest and hippest trends in interior decorating, with a focus on color.
Williams says it’s her goal to make interior decorating stress-free for homeowners. “[Clients] say, ‘I want this done, [and] I want to spend $10,’ ” she says of the biggest challenge. “[They] probably really [need] to spend $100,000, but they’ll say, ‘I want to spend $10,’ and then they’ll go and get a contractor that they may not have done any research on or know anything about, [and] they’ll give the contractor money and [then] the contractor’s nowhere to be found.”
Fortunately, Williams and her staff put their clients first. “We’ll deal with the contractors, we’ll make sure we crack the [whip], but in a nice way and get [your project completed] on time and on budget so that you come through with the dream that you really had,” she says.
The proud mother of a 19-year-old son, Williams hopes her work will inspire more young people to pursue artistic careers. “There are so many artistic things about our youth that we really need to help them tap into and let them uncover,” she says.
