Owners, Herworld Inc

The owners of Herworld Inc. have learned many valuable lessons since the release of their first calendar in 2007. Through achieving success and enduring some business pitfalls, the women developed a more accurate understanding of what it takes to accomplish their goals. Wakena Denton, Haleema and Khatiymah Abdur-Rabbani have dedicated themselves to building a quality modeling agency and serving as shining examples for other young female entrepreneurs.

“We were just concentrating on establishing Herworld when we first started a few years ago,” Khatiymah says. “But we have grown and figured out how important it is to market our models with different events.”

Herworld Inc. recently released their second calendar entitled, “Fantasy Housewives,” to promote models signed with Herworld Agency. “We wanted to have more diversity with the 2008 calendar,” Haleema says. “We want to see our girls doing high fashion spreads and things that are urban-based. The ultimate goal is to provide a look that will cater to all of our clients’ needs.” Although the fashion industry is dominated by agencies that are primarily owned by men, the women of Herworld believe they have an advantage when it comes to working with models. “Most models have to deal with agencies that are pretty tough when it comes to working with females,” Denton confides. “It’s different with us because we are three young women who understand what female models are going through. I think that we all have what it takes to run a successful modeling agency.” -amir shaw
