As is the case with many successful businesses, Five Woods Real Estate Group is led by a person who is driven by determination. Laolu Davies-Yemitan, the 25-year-old owner of the growing establishment, has made a concerted effort to ensure its success since the grand opening in 2005. Soon after graduating from the University of Houston, the entrepreneur guided his firm to unqualified success by providing real estate services to buyers in the central, west, south and southwest areas of Houston.

Over the past year and a half, Davies-Yemitan has expanded his firm’s offerings to include commercial properties. Though being an accomplished business owner demands more hours than he has in a day, he believes sacrificing now creates rewards later. Fortunately, the dynamics of the real estate industry enables him to incorporate his social life wih his work.

“My social life involves my business life, so [events] become social-business networking opportunities,” he says.

Davies-Yemitan stays connected to the Houston community through organizations such as Houston Citizens Chamber of Commerce (HCCC) and the Houston Area Urban League Young Professionals (HAULYP).

“It’s about the attitude you have, encompassing determination, focus and the willingness to pay the price in order to get to success,” says Davies-Yemitan, ticking off the core principles necessary for young people with entrepreneurial aspirations. “We really have to start understanding the importance of supporting one another and making the best use of the talents that we’re provided with, daily.” –camryn barganier, roz edward and michele fling
