In the world of retail fashion, there is often a dearth of products that actually represent what ‘real’ women look like. For Debra A. Williams, it was clear that there was a need for stylish, chic clothes for the average-sized woman. With Her Game 2, she’s helping to bring a new sensibility to urban women’s fashions and she’s making sure that the media understand exactly what the company represents.

“Fit has been a serious issue, especially in the urban market — being able to take a person that’s a 3X, and dress her as ‘fly’ as a person that’s wearing a size six; there’s really nothing that had that in our market,” she says. “I believe that there’s a value in having the same thing that everybody can wear.”

Williams has overcome many of the financial hurdles by building her brand from the bottom up — a real grassroots push. “If you don’t have a tremendous amount of money to develop [your brand], you have earn it. You have to attach yourself to people that do have budgets, utilize the Internet. You have to be creative.”

Creativity comes easily to Williams, and she’s happy to provide a product that empowers women. “Her Game 2 [is] a brand of empowerment,” she shares. “… I want my product to speak for itself. I think that everybody needs to be empowered and feel good in their clothes and understand that this brand is targeted to them. I’m targeting my product to the wife, mother, working woman [and] corporate woman. I want to be that brand for our community.” – todd williams
