So, you want to be a bartender? I can’t lie, the thought has crossed my mind a time or two as well. I mean just think about it, you get to meet all types of interesting people, and instantly become the patron’s favorite person. Not only that, but while you endear yourself to people, the tips that accompany this occupation aren’t too shabby either. Get Your Learn On
First things first, if you want to become a bartender, you will need to attend bartending school. Bartending students receive a comprehensive education on how to mix and prepare an array of drinks. Students also learn loads of ancillary information, such as how to store alcohol, and which stemware is appropriate for certain drinks.

Since most bartending schools are located in major urban centers, residents of large cities travel the path of least resistance when obtaining the proper certifications. Beware of false prophets that advertise online bartending courses. While it sounds good to learn within the comfort of your own home, most establishments don’t recognize this training.

Above all else, personality plays a large part in being a successful bartender. Patrons will frequent a place to give business to a particular bartender. Why? Because customers enjoy interacting with someone who has a warm and inviting presence while getting their swirl on. So if customer service is not your forte, then you may want to rethink this career path.
