For Los Angeles stylist Sir Tony, hair and makeup are more than just beauty accessories -- they’re a way of life. Often referred to as a “transformation artist” because of his ability to transform clients into the celebrities seen on television, Tony has been working his magic for 16 years. He’s worked with a number of stars including Cher, En Vogue and Destiny’s Child. The founder and owner of Sir Tony Transformations, Tony’s salon is a one-stop shop for perfection.
“The difference between me and other hair and makeup artists [is] I’m very good at both … I’ve studied,” he says. “I think that there are a lot of talented people, but where my talent comes in is that I do hair and makeup — when some people are really good at hair and bad at makeup. I go in, I reconstruct a person’s whole face using makeup, using hair pieces, using whatever it is I need to achieve the look that they want.”
Tony has had the pleasure of working with many individuals both in and out of Los Angeles’ pulsing entertainment industry, and he says true star quality begins within.
“Some celebrity people tend to set themselves apart, as though they might be a more supreme being, but the fact of the matter is that we’re all human,” he says. “We all do the same thing, we all put our pants on the same way. We all do everything the same way, so what makes them even more talented is when they can recognize that they’re talented and [are] an everyday person.” - jason thompson
