Music News Bits 3.24 Ludacris and Shawna Battle it Out, Keri Hilson’s Album Hits Stores, Trick Daddy Has Lupus

Ludacris and Shawna “Battle” It Out
Ludacris and Shawna are releasing a new album together, Battle of the Sexes, laying to rest any rumors that the two were feuding. As Shawna exclusively told rolling out last week, the game is in need of more female representation, and she’s more than happy to fill the void. The lead single for the album, “Everybody Drunk,” catches the two Chicago-born emcees delivering brisk verses over a dark, choppy track. The album will be released on Disturbing the Peace/Def Jam sometime this summer.

Keri Hilson’s much-anticipated album, In a Perfect World drops today. Her new single, “Knock You Down” featuring Ne-Yo and Kanye West (who nearly get involved in a scuffle over the Decatur-bred beauty in the video) is burning up the charts. Hilson appeared at the Virgin Store in Times Square last night with Ryan Leslie. Hilson will be back in her hometown of Atlanta for an appearance at DTLR in Camp Creek Marketplace.

Trick Daddy’s New Book Reveals He Has Lupus
While promoting his new book, Magic City: Trials of a Native Son, on the “Rickey Smiley Morning Show” March 23, Miami-born rapper Trick Daddy revealed that he was diagnosed with lupus about 12 years ago. Lupus is an incurable disease that attacks the body’s autoimmune system. The disease has already claimed the life of another hip-hop star, producer J Dilla, who succumbed to the disease in early 2006.

Lupe Fiasco Changes His Mind (Again)
Lupe Fiasco has had a change of heart, again. He’s renamed his album, We Are Losers, drawing the title from “some repressed outcast s---.” According to his Twitter page, the album, which he will be producing himself, is about 60 percent complete. The rapper is still planning to retire after this album.
