Larry King Gives 'Kanye'd' Oscar Winner Second Chance: Scene Stealer Had Ax to Grind

According to TMZ, there's an acrimonius backstory to the Oscar's Kanye moment. Apparently, the redheaded woman, Elinor Burkett, who took the stage — and the mic — during the acceptance speech by Roger Ross Williams for winning the Oscar for the movie Music by Prudence, had an ax to grind.

Apparently, Burkett was part of the Prudence project, but was dismissed due to a feud she was having with Williams over creative control. The two struck an out-of-court settlement, which led to Burkett retaining producer credit for the project. This gave her license, or so she felt, to get her piece of the Oscar spotlight.

She seemed to appear out of nowhere, but what the cameras didn't catch was Williams' mother trying to block the scene stealer's path to the stage with a cane. I sure hate that we missed that tussle; it might have kept me up a little longer to make it to the end!

Media stalwart Larry King is coming to Williams' rescue, though, he'll be allowing the slighted winner to give his acceptance speech tonight on "Larry King Live," TMZ reports. –gerald radford
